The Mayville Golf Course is a well maintained 18-hole course that provides scenic views. The course was constructed to help the amateurs and challenge the veterans of the game. Various events are held at the course’s banquet hall.

Wild Goose State Trail was constructed out of an abandoned Chicago and Northwestern railroad corridor. Residents and visitors are able to hike, bike, walk and cross-country ski year-round on the main trail. Horseback riding is also permitted on an individual 14-mile path alongside the trail. Snowmobiling and winter ATV use is allowed from early December to late March. The well-groomed trail is maintained by Friends of the Dodge County Parks.

History
Founded in 1845, Mayville was settled by the Potawatomi, Ho-Chunk and Fox Native Americans and then by German immigrants in the mid-19th Century. In 1876, John Hollenstein created the wagon and carriage factory and was taken over by his son, John Hollenstein, Jr. until 1941. The location of the wagon factory is now the site of the Historical Society Museum.
