The town maintains an excellent atmosphere and residents are very involved in coordinating events and organizations. With an interactive parks and recreation department and well managed community groups, residents are offered an array of activities.

The parks and recreation department maintains Kanow Park and Joy Park. Located on the Rock River, Kanow Park provides areas for fishing, picnics and a public canoe launch. A playground and a riverbank trail are key features of the park. Joy Park is located on the shores of Spence Lake. The park features a well-maintained path, picnic area and fishing. Bird watching is a popular activity at the park.

Restaurants and bar and grills offer a great selection of American cuisine. Places to eat in Ixonia include Georgina’s, Loppy’s Bar and Ixonia Pub.

Ixonia has many groups and organizations that coordinate activities throughout the year. Ixonia Victory and Maple Street Hustlers are 4-H clubs that meet monthly. Craft groups such as Evening Star and Ixonia Twilighters provide many creative arts activities. The youth baseball league coordinates games and activities during the warmer months of the year. There are plenty of organizations to join such as the Lions Club, Lioness Club and an organization geared toward senior citizens.

History
In 1841, the town of Union was created near Watertown. Union was divided into two towns in 1846. The towns were called Town 7 and Town 8. Town 7 was eventually named Concord, but Town 8 remained nameless. It was agreed by residents to put letters of the alphabet into a container and draw out the letters for a name. “Ixonia” was spelled out at the end of the drawing. It is the only town with the name in the U.S.
