There is plenty to do in Manitowoc County, year round. For example, in summer you can attend RiverFest in Mishicot. Yes, this event has the usual fun things — three stages of live music, four days of competitive “pulls,” a carnival, a parade and three nights of fireworks. But RiverFest in Mishicot has two things you do not see every day: a duck race (use your imagination), and a Wife-Carrying Competition: be the first to carry your wife, your neighbor’s wife or a “want-to-be” wife across the finish line and win her weight in beer!

Another point of interest in the area is the Manitowoc Mariner’s Trail. This is a seven-mile paved trail along Lake Michigan that runs between Manitowoc and the town of Two Rivers. You can hike, bike or in-line skate this trail while enjoying healthful Lake Michigan breezes and the beautiful shoreline.

Also plan to visit and the Pinecrest Historical Village, a step back in time to village and farm life in the early 1800s, and the West of the Lake Gardens, beautiful botanical gardens near the city of Manitowoc.

Two Rivers has a Farmer’s/Crafter’s Market that features not only locally-grown fruit, vegetables and other food but locally-produced crafted arts and crafts, too.
