The village of Eagle is situated in the Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. The forest provides almost 30,000 acres of rolling hills, lakes, forests and grasslands. The forest is especially known for its unique glacial features and is an excellent venue for outdoor activities. It offers camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, mountain biking, horseback riding, snowmobiling and cross-country ski trails.

Eagle is best known for Old World Wisconsin, a popular tourist attraction inspired by the outdoor museums of Europe. Said to be the world’s largest living history museum on rural life, this great cultural resource contains 65 Wisconsin pioneer farmhouses, barns and shops on 576 acres of wilderness. Old World Wisconsin is nestled in the Kettle Moraine State Forest.

The Kettle Moraine has such a big impact on the community that a festival of the same name was created in its honor – Kettle Moraine Days. The festival features a parade, rides, games, music, food and more.

Eagle also has several resorts for locals and visitors to enjoy, including Eagle Springs and Paradise Springs. Eagle Springs is a golf resort located in the rolling hills of the Kettle Moraine. Paradise Springs was once owned by Louis J. Petit, the Morton Salt King.

History
The village of Eagle received its name in 1836 when a group of travelers were exploring the area and saw a huge bald headed eagle soaring overhead.

Eagle was nearly named “Diamond City” in 1876 when a diamond was discovered while digging a well. The diamond was eventually identified as one of the largest glacial diamonds ever found in the United States.
