Oconomowoc, Wisconsin is a city in Waukesha County home to just under 15,000 residents. Its name is a Potowatomi Indian term meaning, “River of Falling Waters.” The city is conveniently located between the major metropolitan areas of Milwaukee and Madison. Oconomowoc has many highly accredited hospitals, including a nationally recognized behavioral health services hospital and the first network-accredited cancer center in the nation to receive the American College of Surgeons Outstanding Achievement award in recognition of quality care. Not only does the city have some of the best healthcare per capita in the Midwest, but arguably in the entire United States.

Schools
The education system in the Oconomowoc area is excellent. The area is served by the Oconomowoc Area School District (OASD), consisting of five K-6 elementary schools, a 7-8 middle school and a 9-12 high school. OASD schools offer supplemental learning opportunities in addition to the core curriculums, providing students with a well-rounded education. This system delivers results – OASD students score above the national averages on the ACT test and the high school graduation rate is almost 98 percent.

Secondary educational opportunities are abundant as well – Waukesha County Technical is a two-year college located nearby and offers diplomas in a variety of fields. Carroll College is a private liberal arts college offering degrees in more than 36 fields. The University of Wisconsin-Waukesha is a two-year college with a concentration in liberal arts. The city’s convenient location also provides access to colleges and universities in Milwaukee and Madison, including UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee and Marquette University.
