The Racine Zoological Gardens are where you can observe wildlife, which includes: giraffes, rhinos, tigers and kangaroos. Special events are held at the zoo including Animal Crackers Concert Series, a car show, Boo at the Zoo and Earth Day. The zoo is located about seven minutes south of the town.

Located about 15 minutes south of Wind Point, the Wind Point Theatre Guild hosts many events that the whole family can enjoy. Events scheduled at the community theatre are musicals, plays, children’s theatre and comedy shows. The theatre’s mission is to “engage in the theatre arts pursuing activities and productions of high standards and artistic integrity that will enrich and ensure a better quality of life for the residents of Racine…”

The Wind Point Lighthouse is a historic feature of the town. The lighthouse has been preserved with help from “Friends of the Lighthouse.” Visitors can climb the exterior of the tower during the warmer months, and can take in the picturesque view of Lake Michigan.

History
Construction of the town began in 1855 when the Thomas family steadily cleared the wooded western shoreline of Lake Michigan. Other families soon followed establishing their large acre farms in the area. The U.S. Lighthouse Service constructed the Light Station to mark a reef that created a hazard for incoming boats. Maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard in 1967, the lighthouse was updated to ensure enhanced usability. The National Park Service gave the rights to the Light Station to Wind Point with the trust that the village would manage the historic site in 1997.
